Recently, Envirent AS succeeded in delivering a bespoke Subsea Saw used for cutting of a 76 mm drivescrew on a subsea clamp connector (Pipeline End Termination).
After several years subsea, use of standard torque equipment did not manage to open the clamp connector. An urgent need of a cutting tool was required to open the clamp, and Envirent was asked to investigate a proper solution that could solve the issue on short notice. After few hours engineering our sister-company, Envirex AS, presented a smart and cost-efficient design of a Subsea Saw. Subsea Saw was able to cut the clamp connector at three different locations without the need to retrieve the tool to surface for adjustments, and without damaging critical equipment nearby the clamp. ROV friendly solutions made it possible to do the work safe and effective at 300-meter water depth.
The design was built on standard off-the-shelf components and in-stock equipment – which made it possible to engineer, procure and assemble a complete tool within 1 week.
Prior to shipment, an interface test and cutting test was successfully performed without the need for further modifications or adjustment of the tool in advance of starting the offshore campaign. Each cut took about 20 minutes to complete.
Envirent and Envirex gives a major thanks to our client for the trust and opportunity to show our strengthen and capabilities. We are looking forward to the future, and more challenges to be solved. Feel free to contact us! 🙂
